Biography
Sartoris He/They - Pansexual |
The Disgraced Continuance Prisoner |
"QUOTE"
♫ Will Stetson - A Mistaken Belief of Love (English Cover) ♫
A notorious Necromancer once nicknamed 'The Ivory Blight' for his fast-growing and dangerous army, this threat, a previously normal Imperial named Sartoris, mysteriously disappeared amidst the rise of another Necromancer who now resides in The Ivory Blight's previous home and now commands his armies. What happened to The Ivory Blight and is this new Necromancer really the one who put an end to him? More importantly, will The Ivory Blight really stay dead? Hopefully, for the good of all dragonkind, he will. |
Sartoris' strength was not from his own magic ability but from a previously inert family relic, an amulet simply called The Ceaseless Heart. Sartoris had inherited this relic from his parents as he was the oldest and had only recently reached adulthood. Not long after receiving the amulet, the Imperial went adventuring and had a spat with the Shade, becoming Shade-Touched from the incident. It was when The Ceaseless Heart was exposed to Shade that its true power was revealed. True and complete Necromancy.
In Vandalia, Sartoris kept his younger brother, Admaer, close at his side, forcing the younger Imperial to be his servant. Admaer was his only remaining family after he had done away with his other siblings and parents soon after discovering The Ceaseless Heart's true power and returning to Castle Vandalia. Perhaps it was pity that spared Admaer, perhaps it was Sartoris' own twisted kind of love, the reasons are unclear.
Sartoris always underestimated Admaer. To him, Admaer would never be anything other than his younger sibling. His little brother. Someone to look down upon. And that's what Sartoris did. Look down upon Admaer, underestimate him at every turn. Usually he was proven right. Until he wasn't.
Admaer wasn't useless, he wasn't lesser and he proved that when he stole the Ceaseless Heart right from under Sartoris' nose. Admaer had been free from the Shade until then, but when the Shade saw the potential within Admaer, it surged into him, filling him with the ability to make use of the Ceaseless Heart on the spot.
And after what Sartoris had done and been doing to Admaer? There was no mercy.
But Admaer wasn't free from Sartoris, he'd never be. Even in undeath, Sartoris always had the upper-hand over his little brother. He always knew what to say to make Admaer feel like something lesser and unworthy to what Sartoris was.
And even when Admaer had found true happiness? It didn't last long. Admaer didn't last long, having given himself to the Shade when everything went so bad. Not that Sartoris knew precisely that was what had happened. But he knew once a year had passed since he had last seen Admaer that he had won. He always knew he was going to win.
Even locked up and chained, completely at Admaer's mercy for years, he had still prevailed. And he continued to, persisting years and years since, alone, isolated. Not that Sartoris cared. He was still himself after all. Time blurred and blurred. But one day... something finally changed.
He could feel it. The Ceaseless Heart... someone had finally found it.
Role Description
After Admaer stole The Ceaseless Heart and killed Sartoris, Admaer decided that Sartoris did not deserve to stay dead for long. Perhaps it was directly caused by Admaer's wishes or perhaps the remnants of the Shade within Sartoris did it, but when he was revived, he kept his sense of self as well. That didn't really matter and even though he was completely at Admaer's mercy anyways since he had the Ceaseless Heart, the first thing Admaer did was chain him up and lock him away in a secret, undeveloped underground cavern.
Ever since then, Sartoris has remained there, only granted relief from the isolation whenever Admaer decided to visit him. Sartoris was always snide and condescending in response, always beating Admaer down even if his younger brother had had the upper hand ever since he'd stolen the Ceaseless Heart. It was the only pleasure Sartoris had left and he knew that since Admaer believed what he said that he was right about everything. His brother wasn't cut out for this and he'd never reach even half of what Sartoris did.
Eventually though, since Sartoris was correct about his thoughts about Admaer, his brother stopped visiting. The satisfaction from still being what he believed to be above his brother was what he leaned on to keep him from losing himself as time passed and passed. To this day he is still chained up, isolated, still reveling over that victory over Admaer.
And maybe... that's what he'll just do until the end of time.

History
In summary (mainly for me), Sartoris fell in love, it was bad and he took it out on everyone else, mainly Admaer, for all of time.
The full story will be written... eventually.

Signature Spell
"N/A"
Whatever signature spell he used to have was not only erased when he became Shade Touched but whatever semblance of what it was or could've been completely dispersed and faded when he died. While he still possesses some weak magic now, it is not capable of forming coherent spells, much less a signature spell.

Notes
- Has a huge ego and a messed up understanding of love. The ego came from his discovery of the true use of an old family relic and his understanding of love came from a very not so good relationship he had in the past that ended as poorly as it began and generally was. He doesn't know or understand true love or kindness. Not anymore.
- His head in particular is covered since Admaer hates looking at his eyes.
