he wakes up dreaming of those terrifying ocean-blue eyes once more. he can't help it - he's tried talking to another dragon about it but they've only ever looked at him like he was crazy. maybe he was crazy. he didn't particularly care anymore, he just wanted the damned voice out of his head. "poseidon, god of the seas, and god of storms," was all he could hear from his head ever since he was born.
sure, the other dragons thought he was a little loopy and stupid because of that. but it wasn't his fault! it was that- it was that voice, always trying to get him to do something. when he grew up-
when he grew up, he went crazy.
he watched the rise and fall of an empire long gone, the odd fondness that a primordial being from the sea felt towards those...creatures he called humans, he watched- he watched a pantheon of gods fall from their seats and he felt the terror that overcame poseidon as his cities crumbled before his very eyes, as the dragon gods roared and toppled their reign.
he tried to rebuild that empire. he wanted to. (poseidon. god of the seas, and god of storms.) but he couldn't. as he was, he was just a weak- a weak moth-dragon unable of doing anything poseidon could have done.
he sent lightning down with precision equaling that of another named zeus, the reminder of this being sending murmurs of contentment and bitter, reluctant sadness through him.
he forgot what happened after he had fashioned himself a trident and summoned a wave powerful enough to knock out the clan.
(poseidon was also the god that brought forth chaos and turbulence.)
when he woke up, it was to a blissfully silent mind and the constant whisper of poseidon, poseidon, poseidon gone. he looked up at the coatl that had brought him here, the one that held understanding and that bitter twinge of guilt, and said:
"my name is poseidon, and i will help you rebuild your empire."
