Biography
WIP
Vane arrived not long after his partner washed ashore. (...)
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Vane installed state-of-the-art lightning rods on the tallest buildings in Slipshod, keeping its residents safe just as they'd done for Laevis.
(...)
He didn't seem to miss the tunnels of his previous home as his partner did. When asked over a warm meal at the tavern, Vane recalled the Expanse with a mix of discomfort and something that wasn't quite bitterness.
The circumstances of his birth began centuries ago with the commencement of Project Fractalpath. This massive undertaking sought to create a tunnel circumnavigating the Sea of a Thousand Currents - an underground superhighway through which "exits" into different territories could be added. Locations were assigned, work-lairs were burrowed out, and, eventually, nests were made. Nests full of eggs that, technically, were laid miles under the land of an alien element.
Vane was born under the Windswept Plateau. This is where the issue began: not only could Sandsurges not fly, but being a Wind dragon born into an exclusively underground society meant a near-constant sense of claustrophobia. His entire body ached for a limitless horizon, despite never having seen one.
Until recently.
[...]
Now [Sandsurge] provides regular maintenance to the rods, keeping them in pristine condition even after countless storms.
