Earth, under one’s paws, crumble to dust. There is no redeeming qualities to mud, gravel, pebbles, grit, stone even. They all, when met with the appropriate force of one’s relentlessness fury, succumb to the obvious strength of the dragon and cower into powder.


Gems, now, they are different. Sure, they break as well, they dust into a colourful powder that bears resemblance to the dust of an ordinary, boring stone. But they are filled with powers, with virtues one can extract and simmer away into magic – if one knew how. Unluckily – because it was not down to luck, it was down to study, attention to detail, care for the craft – Cassius knew how perfectly. He had spent so long in the high pillars, snout deep into grimoires, that he had borderline perfected his knowledge of gemmology and its many uses. This interest led to some dabbling into potion-making, alchemy, dust magic… So many trials and errors made him the renowned apothecary he was.


But his stature had not grown with his knowledge. He was small ; fierce, of course, but his eternal status in the form of a simple hatchling made those unaware of him treat him as such. They did not fear him, they did not respect him, it’s barely if they could see him. Whilst he looked for a magical solution, a miracle potion to make him grow his physique into the beautiful beast he knew he truly was both in and out, he grew tired of the Kalnath Clan’s insistence he should simply wait in the high pillar – he was NOT a hatchling, this he knew, and why he looked one was a sombre mystery.


When Belren, renowned himself – albeit for more of a tactical role than his boundless knowledge as Cass was – and shadow banned from the Clan, approached him promising endless supplies for his potions and the status of a true, adult aether in a little secret operation, he immediately accepted. Too useful to be banned himself by the ruling family, Cassius simply lost his nest atop the high pillars, but he quickly recovered a smirk on his face when he was offered, as part of his new role of Deep Market’s Apothecary, a sprawling cave to establish shop, supplies so rare or dangerous (often both at the same time) he had never before laid eyes on them, and a trio of charming females to help him at the shop, as well as with his basest instincts. The only condition for this dream life : help Belren dethrone the Kalnath’s rulers and restore its previous glory, one Cassius had never even known.


Earth, under one’s paws, crumble to dust. And so shall the current clan system.
