Biography
Raspberry Roman
Before there was Raspberry Roman, there was Sunsworn, divine warrior of the Sanctified Blade exorcist order. This dragon had spent his youth training to enlist, and having successfully done so, had since spent his life with his brothers in arms, seeking out gods and forces they did not understand, and using their deity's magic to erase them from the face of Sornieth.
The order eventually came upon the legend of Morningstar in their travels, typically whispers on the tongues of superstitious dragons on the border-clans just outside the Shadowbinder's realm. After gathering enough information to hint at the whereabouts of a possible clan of Morningstar initiates near the Dusk Sanctum, he and a small unit of his brothers set out on a mission to surveil and destroy it.
The clan-hall was barren when they arrived. Whatever dragons may have once lived here, had since departed, leaving nothing but stale, ice-cold air in their wake. Despite the winds whipping in from the Wispwillow Grove to the East, the air surrounding the remains of this clan were dead still, and the champions of Sanctified Blade began to feel unease. Such thoughts were cut short, however, by the sight of a rapidly falling, ice-blue star screaming down toward the earth beneath their feet. Their tongues had not formed a single stumbling spell before it crashed.
Though it would not be precisely accurate to call him a "sole survivor", the form of Sunsworn rose up from the ashes around him. His eyes, once wide and warm, were now agleam with a stark, brilliant light. A lesser angel of Morningstar had taken host in his form, and within moments of his mortal awakening, his flesh began to shimmer; cool and bright tones merged to a single deep sanguinary red. At last, the first Priest of Morningstar had been born. Taking the name Raspberry Roman, he began his trek Southward, where he would take on the role of spiritual leader of Morningstar clan.
The dragons of Morningstar were eager for his arrival, all feeling the pull in their hearts that someone of importance was drawing near. Roman was welcomed with a bountiful feast, where Prince Sammy took special interest in meeting his Father's angel, sent all this way to help guide the growing clan. Raspberry Roman found in his many discussions that evening that many of the dragons of Morningstar had yet to truly actualize their full potential, needing guidance, reassurance, and the empowerment of ritual to make their hearts stronger and their talents greater.
Over the following weeks, he began his work as a spiritual counselor, opening projects where dragons could explore their knowledge of and relationship with Morningstar. Many had created their own ways of serving and thanking Him, but had not had the experience of formal spiritual services before, and so Roman began developing a space to teach and practice ritual magic. Gum Gus and he became quick friends, the bogsneak proving to be an upbeat and endearing foil to the enigmatic and sanguinary aura that Roman brought. The pair are beginning to design workshops and practice advance magic together, making Morningstar accessible to chosen dragons of all backgrounds. His long-term project is planning for the Chapel of Morningstar, to be built in a two-part chamber of DECEMBERUNDERGROUND, comprised of both an altar space in the highest wings of the castle open to the night sky, and an underground ritual space, suitable for work requiring a dim, macabre tone.
He has recently taken in Honeydew Herb under his tutelage, teaching the shy young tundra how to hone his magical aptitude to summon with intent and power. The two have formed a close paternal bond, Herb finally learning the feeling of being praised and enjoyed for who he is; while Roman learns the joy and surprising spiritual strengthening that comes with taking a mortal under your care. As the adoptive son of Morningstar's angel, Herb holds a special place in the spiritual space of the clan, and Roman is proud of his growth.
