Tithonia

Tithonia may have only been older than her sister by a few hours, but she had an undeniable sense to protect Nyssinae. They hatched alone, without any parents to defend them. Seemingly abandoned, the sisters made their own way in the world. Tithonia made sure to keep them safe, getting in fights with larger predators, to make sure Nyss would stay safe. She did as much as she could, but a child can only do so much and she was quickly burning herself out. Then one day, while trying to rest in their small den, Tith smelled something new. She immediately got on guard, ready to fight once again for her sister.

The source of the smell soon became evident. An older dragon came into view and began approaching them. Tithonia started growling to warn him off and he slowed a bit. He cautiously reached out to them, and she snapped at him and growled louder. He backed up and eventually walked away and left them alone. Satisfied, Tithonia settled in with her sister and soon fell asleep.

That night she awake, realized that older dragon was back and much closer than she realized. She stumbled up, finally fully realizing how exhausted she truly was. As he came into view she tried to growl and warn him off again, but knew if it came to a fight she would not come out on top. This time thought, instead of trying to approach them he dropped a bundle down and pushed it towards her. He watched her for a moment then turned, walked a short distance away, and laid himself at the entrance to the den, blocking the way from anything else. Tithonia stayed wary for a bit before Nyssinae woke up and curiously began sniffing. She was nervous about the older dragon, but nudged her sister towards the bundle when she smelled the food. Tith knew they needed it and eventually grabbed it and they were both able to eat their fill.

After eating Tith felt as if she was going to pass out at any moment and Nyss assured her that she would make sure they were ok and that she could rest. Tith didn't have any energy to fight and soon fell asleep.

When she next woke up she was in a nest, surrounded by the smell of the older dragon. She immediately got scared, unable to see her sister and began panicking. Then the older dragon came into the room and smiled at her, "Ah good, you're awake. Come, have some breakfast. You're sister helped me make it and we can get to know each while you eat."
