______ Asra came into the school as a Guardian hatchling born of dragons that were created in the image of the Shadowbinder herself. The headmistress and her associates found her a suitable candidate to train up into a professor of the Shadow element, an element they so desperately needed students under at the time. When she came of age, Asra took up a grove of Dusk Jadevine within the strand as her charge. The plant is native to both the Isles and the Tangled Wood, reminding her of home while also serving as an important component in many Shadow- and night- based spells. Disaster struck one day when her grove was found fatally infected by a spreading influence of the Scarred Wasteland, engineered by a rogue blighter of the Plague element. She never found the perpetrator, and she was devastated by her failure to protect her charge. She went into hiding for months afterwards, feeling like a failure of both a Guardian and a mistress of the Shadow element; if she could not do something as so simple as protecting a grove, then how would she ever successfully wield the Shadows herself?

It is unknown just how her thought process went during her time of solitude. By the time the headmistress was just about intolerant of her lack of study, Asra finally emerged into the public once more. She declared to the headmistress that a charge was of too much distraction to her plans of research, so she felt it necessary to seek out the magic needed to change her breed. Her decision was uncontested completely, and in short time, Asra successfully transformed into a Fae. A Fae was chosen due to her fascination with the natural affinities for magic which the species has, and she found the emotionless monotone to be highly appealing. The size change was something she quickly became used to, especially when within the enchanted halls of the school. Her studies accelerated tenfold in her new form, and soon enough she took her spot as the head scholar of the Shadow element. It was only a little more time until she decided to focus more so on the trickster element of the Shadow flight, and today she is completely enveloped in her magical devotion.

As an instructor, Asra is highly sarcastic and prone to jabs which come off even harsher in her Fae monotone. Her lectures usually have no formal organization, and whatever comes to mind, she speaks it. Due to these facts, her classes are quite difficult, so the school board looks to find another head scholar of Shadow for students to take as an alternative to Asra. Many students sometimes question her morals with certain topics she likes to delve into (she has a tendency to joke about performing a ritual to resummon the Shade or to form a campaign to take over the school), but in reality, Asra is more bark than bite. The worst she will ever do is hurt a few feelings or two, never reach the level of corruption or Shade-re-summoning or what have you.

Asra never fully got over the destruction of her Charge, even now as a Fae. The event led her to grow terribly prejudiced towards Plague dragons and the Plague flight in general, and this showed in her treatment of Plague students in her classes. Most evident of her distrust would lie in her interactions with the Plague professor, Myrkul, whom she tried to sabotage the research of many, many times. Her actions led to the Plague dragon himself in treating his own Shadow students with similar prejudice and finding ways to muck up her studies, and eventually their meddling became so intense that the headmistress had to put her claw down and order a conflict resolution between the two. With the since-exalted Caelum as a mediator, the two dragons got over their differences- somewhat. They were, in the least, not doing anything more to disrupt the normal flow of education. This did not mean that the occasional snide-talk did not happen anymore between the two, though. Eventually, the heated anger between the two of earlier cooled off enough for there to be mutual notice of one another's element- Asra had never gave much consideration in looking at the Plague element before due to her unfortunate experience, but when she finally sat down to watch Myrkul's strange magic at work, she found herself increasingly intrigued. When she finally began to speak to him in the form of questions regarding his work was when their initial hostility finally melted away entirely. Much was similar to Myrkul himself, and one thing led to another as the two dragons grew feelings for one another. It can be argued among their associates if this love is more so a want on both sides to gain the benefits of the other's magic in bettering their individual selves, but there is no doubt in their strong bond. It is among the strongest in the school, in fact.

Asra is quite fascinated by space, especially that of dark matter, so she is well-acquainted with the astronomer, Mystica. The two will be found in the school observatory on exceptionally clear nights, looking at the mysterious cosmos together and noting down important details either one finds. Another close associate of hers is Lobh from the allied flight, with whom she shares tips and tricks regarding the elemental magic of Shadow.
