Amaerie Grey
Amaerie Grey trod the lovelorn wood
of deepest gloom and heart-spurned lee
and thought naught of fey nor glamour.
The fairest prince glimpsed that face
and knew her beauty nigh
might stir the wicked hearts of fey.
He could not but trail her path
and miss her still for none would believe
in the fated love of the elden prince.
Lest the elden prince of fey
might sway her to his side
she swathed herself in swirling smoke.
“Precious love, what have you done?
Such smoke spells death to fey!”
came the anguished cry.
But Amaerie Grey sang:
“I have no need of love
if I have the peace of the wood.
If the fey should rest nearby
they will not seek me—
it’s safe along my way.”
Thus she wandered that gloomy place
and her shadow darkened further
with the faithful step of the fey prince.
