Caught in a bad arcane magic accident set off by his brother Mirach, Almach finds his body caught in spiraling waves of magic that pulse through him. When they do, whatever part of his body that the pulse is touching phases out of what he is touching, shining blue-pink. It makes his ability to interact with the world difficult.
Since then he's dedicated himself to studying Arcane magic, partially to understand what happened to him, partly to stop Mirach from doing something reckless in his noble if obsessive pursuit to undo what happened to Almach.
His studies have led him to accepting the position of Arcane Professor, since he knows the theory very well. His lessons are strange, especially when his face phases out and a disheaded voice continues lecturing his class.
He spends his time visiting and being visited by both his brothers: Mirach and Alpheratz, and writing letters to them in between visits.
