A mysterious entity that is also know as the Goddess of the Night. Although not inherently harmful or malicious, Nyx is one of the more powerful creatures that can appear in Sornieth, and is easily capable of stealing away the life of all living beings. She is one of the Employers made by The Machine, although she is much older than her siblings, and therefor a bit of en enigma to even them.

Nyx was created by The Machine as a sort of failsafe; should she be called to Sornieth, she would destroy all life, and wipe the planet. Should the misery of life become too much for Sornieth, their misery would manifest into a fragment of Nyx' consciousness that would call for the rest of her body, and as a result, cause The Fall. Truth is, this being came into existence a long time ago, but was split into 13 different demons in hopes of preventing The Fall. At the time, Nyx had been amused by this, and as such, had left it be; if they wished to live badly enough to interrupt the part of her that would return to her as a signal, she would leave it be.

When Nyx was finally awoken again, the 13 demons once again reunited and the final fragment of her conscious returned (it had gained a personality of its own, curiously), she set out to carry out her mission, the reason for her living. She started letting herself seep into Sornieth, tearing Purgatory apart and merging it with the dimension of the living. However, there stood dragons in her way (she recognized them- ah, that part of hers... Ryoji, that was the name he went by, was their friend). It was futile, of course; there was no way that they could stand up against her, and indeed, they couldn't. It was both amusing and sad, to see them struggle so much, and the part of her that they had known lamented their fate to die. It simply was how it was, however, Nyx would do her job, as she was always meant to do.

However, strangely, when all but one of them had gone down, and she was about to cast the final blow, something tugged at her. No- rather, something pushed back against her.

She felt herself disconnect from Sornieth's misery. The roars begging for life to end became more and more distant. What was once calling for her to come, was-

It was curious. Somehow, that last dragon standing was sealing her off from Sornieth- or was it sealing Sornieth from her? Either way, she felt herself being pushed back into Purgatory, her body slowly drifting off back into a slumber. The world repaired itself around her, a giant seal that she couldn't have imagined wrapping itself around her and the dragon. It was madness.

It was... a miracle, perhaps.

Not that Nyx particularly cared. If she was not needed anymore, she would gladly go back to her slumber- although that small part of her, that part that had been on Sornieth, had befriended that dragon- ah, Minato- stayed aware just long enough to impart a message onto him and his team. It struggled to stay awake, before it, too, was absorbed into the enternal slumber between dreams and reality.

Well, if Sornieth wanted to live that badly, if its champions were willing to do this... she was fine with that. She didn't mean Sornieth or its inhabitants any harm, after all. She would simply do what she always did; rest at the other side of Purgatory.

(And, perhaps, she allowed herself to occasionally invade the dreams of her seal as Ryoji Mochizuki. Perhaps such a thing brought her more joy than anything had in eons. Even if it was only for brief moments.

Perhaps, life was a beautiful thing, and she didn't mind that she didn't have to take all of it away as long as the seal existed.)
