Biography
Needs: Iridescent Gene
At first glance, Kael looks like he could be plotting anyone's demise behind their back, or even right in front of him due to his mask. His mischievous Shadow Sprite Dread along with his fashion choices just encourage this view. However, he is a kind and caring member of the clan and his fighting prowess has earned him the top spot. He is very shy and can often be found making masks instead of friends, though he occasionally talks to the other dragons or goes to the library. Because he rarely talks to anyone except Nyx, new members are often frightened and intimidated by him. He gets embarrassed easily and hates being teased, but understands that Nyx teases him in front of the hatchlings to put them at ease. Nyx played a very important role in his life when he first joined the clan, breaking him out of his little protective shell he had drawn himself into. Though they might seem like the worst pair, Kael and Nyx compliment each other perfectly and work great as co-leaders of the clan. Kael can be too soft, and Nyx too harsh, but when they reach compromises it almost always works out for everyone.
Kael hid in a corner of the clan's main room, hoping no one would bother him while he was working on his newest mask design. He had just joined this clan and everyone seemed nice enough... Except for that Spiral. She was so loud and hotheaded, rushing into situations and then trying to take control. She was always fighting and getting herself into situations she couldn't back out of. The poor progens had their hands full trying to deal with her antics. He hummed happily, glad everyone was busy paying attention to her instead of him. He was almost finished with perfecting this design, then it would be perfect. He started to painstakingly carve the final runes onto the mask, only to have a shadow block out his light. He looked up, a bit annoyed but more worried that he was going to be asked to join in a game of some sort. He wasn't really a game type. To his dismay, it was that Spiral. She looked out of breath, as though she has been running around a lot.
"Hey, do you know any good hiding places? I'm afraid I've indirectly challenged Gorrick again." She whispered, glanced around to check if anyone else had noticed her. Kael sighed. Why did she have to come to him? There was plenty other dragons in the clan, and she had to come to his nice, quiet corner.
"Well?" She asked impatiently. "Are there any?" Kael looked around, he only knew of a few because he was new.
"Yes. There's one over there. I think you can fit into the crevice. It may seem small, but there's actually a nice sized room down there. Not big enough for an Imperial or Guardian, but then, neither is the crack." Why was he helping her? She was just going to bring him trouble and stress he didn't need. And he was new. He didn't want to be branded a trouble maker. But... He was drawn to her for some reason. Right before she slithered into the little crack in the wall, she flashed him a smile.
"Hey, thanks for this. You wouldn't mind pointing them in the wrong direction when they come too, right?" Without waiting for an answer she disappeared, but then popped her head back up.
"Oh, I'm Nyx. What's your name?" Gods, Kael didn't know why he was helping her and now he was going to tell her his name, and he already knew he would divert Gorrick's and whoever else's attention from this area.
"It's Kael." He said with a sigh, and she disappeared back into the crack. He walked back to his mask and tried to carve again, but it was no use. His mind was whirling with thoughts. Why had he helped her? He had always imagined he would be the one to finally stop her antics, and here he was, watching as she got away with even more stuff. He jumped as Gorrick came around the corner, radiating anger. He really didn't know much about everyone yet, but he did know it took a lot to make Gorrick angry. Seafoam trotted behind him, with a worried expression on her face, and trying to calm him down. He was able to catch a few words she was saying, and when they got to him they asked him if he had seen Nyx at all. He pointed them back were they came, telling them she had gone that way, and Gorrick stomped off. Sweet Arcanist, what had he gotten himself into?
Kael continued to help Nyx, but also mellowed her in a way. She may still make some rash decisions, and pick a couple fights here and there, but she's wiser. Nyx, on the other hand, has helped Kael to be bolder and not as shy and malleable. Their partnership as co-leaders of the clan has benefited the clan in many ways. Very few decisions are made by only one of them, and when they come to compromises, almost everyone is happy.
