Biography
Lore notes:
• he/him
• Markeb spent most of his adolescence wandering the Shifting Expanse, trying to find a place where he felt like he belonged. His home lair was lovely but ultimately not where he wished to stay for the rest of his life. So he left after a heartfelt goodbye.
• His second home was far less peaceful. While some of the dragons there were kind enough, others were hostile and battle-hungry on a daily basis. He was forced to flee with nothing but the clothes on his back after two of his clanmates attempted to pick a fight with him. It was this fight that drove him to seek a home beyond the Expanse.
• His wandering took him through the Sunbeam Ruins, only stopping for brief resting whenever he encountered a small village or an inn.
• Upon entering the Tangled Wood, he almost immediately found himself cornered by an aggressive duo of Wildclaws, despite not having anything to his name to give up. He was rescued by a passing Skydancer, who introduced himself as Shilo.
"You look lost, stranger. What brings you so far from the Shifting Expanse?" The Skydancer asked, wings folding to his sides as he stepped over the defeated Wildclaws, "Are you a traveler passing through?"
To that, Markeb shrugged, his body language still tense despite Shilo's passive stance.
"I suppose you could say that..." He replied, his tone somewhat hesitant, but he relaxed upon Shilo backing up, having taken note of the Obelisk's distrust.
"I see. You look exhausted, where are you heading?"
"...I don't know. I don't have a destination."
Shilo's expression softened at this answer, bringing a hand up to his chin in thought. It wasn't much, but he was certain Fala would let Markeb stay long enough to get some food and rest. So, he extended his clawed hand with a friendly smile.
"How about you come with me back to my village, and you can think about a destination in the morning?"
• Within Murkwood, he met its leader, Fala, who was much kinder than his previous home's leader had been. She allowed him to stay as long as he wanted to, providing him the funds to eat and rest comfortably.
• Markeb spent a few days recovering from his journey, and befriending some of the locals. It was here that he met a couple farmers, who kindly requested his help with their fields for pay. The tasks he assisted them with, while tiring, he felt content while working, and it affected him more than he had initially thought.
• Spending a few more days assisting those farmers, he was eventually approached by Fala again, who offered him a place within the city, if he desired it. The offer was tempting, and he really had enjoyed his time spent in Murkwood, but this didn't feel like his forever home. When Markeb expressed this, she simply smiled and said, "I might know a place that will."
• Over the course of a few days of travel, Fala, under the protection of bodyguards, led Markeb to the city of Highkeep, where its leaders, Niernen and Shae, had been waiting at the outskirts. Niernen offered him to stay in the city, to see if he had any interest in staying as a resident. Since Fala seemed to have high hopes that he'd be interested, Markeb agreed.
• The first few days were spent befriending locals once more, and doing some small delivery tasks for merchants for some extra pay. And soon, he met Reina. Their first meeting didn't go quite perfectly, as he had accidentally knocked over one of her flowerpots when delivering a package to her. Reina, though upset, was forgiving. How could she not be, when Markeb got down as low as he could possibly get to the ground and apologized profusely?
• Upon their second meeting, he approached her with an intricately designed flowerpot, containing brilliant red tulips, to make up for the pot he broke. She accepted the kind gift, and they became friends after a bit of talking. Reina could empathize with feeling unsatisfied in her home city and wanting to get out there, but she didn't have to move far to find home. She expressed curiosity about farming when Markeb told her of his experiences in Murkwood, bonding further over shared interests. It was only after Markeb realized that he was falling in love with Reina did he finally feel like he found home.
• On the evening the cool winter made way for spring, when their first cluch saw the light of dawn for the first time, they married, making their space around the outskirts of the city, to set up a farm.
