Euthymius hatched alone. Unbeknownst to him, the glowing pattern on his wings provided a perfect camouflage, blending in with the bioluminescent mushrooms that filled the hollow. He gazed around, blinking, fascinated by the pretty glowing lights as he calmly munched on his birthshell. Once sated, the sound of crickets and a nearby babbling brook lulled him into sleep...

His early days were calm, yet filled with discoveries. He followed the sound of the water to discover the brook, small enough to wade in, but deep enough to provide a habitat for fish, which he soon discovered he could eat! He followed the fireflies, as intrigued with their tiny glowing bodies as they seemed to be with the bioluminescent patterns on his wings. He followed the stream downhill for several days, making all kinds of discoveries along the way, until he came to the biggest discovery of all: a village hidden in the dark recesses of the bramble...a village full of dragons!!
