Biography

Scheherazade: The Knight

The lone survivor of a plague that wiped out her lair, Scheherazade has been a fighter since she was an egg. Although she isn't gifted magically, her physical power more than makes up the difference. When Commander Sothis stepped down from her position as hunting party head, no one was surprised to have Scheherazade named as her replacement.

--

After a rough and tumble childhood as the clan slowly began to grow past herself and Nilota's other adoptees, Scheherazade felt isolated from the group as the only one with an only tenuous elemental link at best. She turned to astronomy, and hunting small animals while the others were at lessons. Most she killed, but some she managed to coax back to the lair as presents for Boga and Islander. When she discovered how much Boga liked feathers, she would collect thousands of them and present them by piling them in Boga's personal cavern.

Having little to no magic, Scheherazade's attempts at nesting with Islander were...disappointing, to say the least. After several clutches, the pair of them concluded their offspring would never inherit either Islander's looks or Scheherazade's strength, and they gave up. Scheherazade, Islander, and Boga still remained romantically involved, but only the latter two continued to breed.

Disheartened by her inability to contribute to the clan population - or indeed, to do magic at all - Scheherazade threw herself into hunting and guarding their territory. She spent little time looking at the stars, or speaking to her partners at all.

After the incidents at the Observatory - first the portals, then the aliens - Scheherazade realized how valuable her training of recruits had made the clan in those weeks.

She happily returned to stargazing with her partners when she had this realization, and hasn't felt useless since.
