So maybe the current she'd been swimming with was going faster than she'd thought, and maybe she did get turned around in those crucial few moments when she'd tumbled and gotten her wings tangled up in her face and couldn't see where she was going - and so what if the water's so much shallower here than she's ever been in before, and she might have to admit that she's a little teeny bit lost?

She'd always (idly, in a nebulous far-future kind of way) wanted to go on an adventure! And what better adventure than accidentally getting so lost there's no hope of finding home again? That's how all the good stories start. And the good stories are full of kind strangers, and interesting foods, and, uh, horrible traps and dramatic betrayals... And then when you get home, in those stories, home is never really the same again because you've changed so much and... Hm.

Maybe she's just going to ask around and find a nice clan to take her in. Adventuring doesn't seem like all it's cracked up to be.
