The sanguine Obelisk Irishi learned that holding a threatening, superior air about her was always the correct thing to do. Nobody, after all, would listen to her if she was quiet. But even from a young age, there was that dangerous strut in her step. She seemed as if she would absolutely destroy anyone in her path. She’d never gotten into a fight, but the reputation spread in her small clan; the Obelisk was not to be messed with, ever. To reflect her newfound authority, she decided that Irishi was not the name that she was going to keep. She changed it to a sharp, short name; Kira. She eventually left her clan, deciding that she wanted to make some treasure through picking up random jobs. This is when she actually learned how to fight, because some dragons wouldn’t back down from a terrifying appearance, which she continued to carefully cultivate. She became quite deadly, considerably unnecessary as her job as a debt collector, which she kept longest. That is, until she was assigned to a Pearlcatcher named Chaos. The image she was handed was an artistic rendition depicting a dangerous-looking dragon, dark scarring visible all over his body (at least that’s what it appeared to be.) That did not faze her, though. Definitely not the scariest dragon she’d boldly approached. Unfortunately, when she did track down Chaos, she was disappointed to see that he was not intimidated. This culminated in a fight, which Kira won; but instead of demanding her payment, plus interest, plus a made-up “service fee”, Kira indulged in her curiosity. What, indeed, was this strange place, and why was there a status of a nameless eldritch horror? Chaos was only too happy to wiggle out of paying, and explained the Nightmares to her, omitting how dismal their status was, and how unknown they were. That did not matter in the end. Kira was always successful, and so she landed a comfortable job as a high priestess, becoming the great strategist behind every single move the Nightmares made, collaborating with Chaos to ensure the Nightmares climbed the ranks of notoriety. At this point, the Nightmares are a feared cult as far as their reach extends, and it is all thanks to Kira (… and maybe, just a little bit Chaos. It’s not like she planned on giving him credit for the ascension.) She refused any offers to accept the Shade and become a vessel, citing that it would be a poor decision to let herself go on random rampages, as a priestess and revered presence. This means that she, unlike Chaos, is not Shade-touched. Her familiar, Vespera, sticks by her because of that; she fears the Shade. |
