"We can survive. Rattlesnake is not going to be right! Ghoul isn't either! We are Iris Clan for Shadowbinder's sake!"

Name:
Bladebeak

Age:
6 years

Gender:
transgender female, she/her

Sexuality:
homosexual, demiromantic

Family:
Ghoul • mother, alive
Adder • father, deceased
Rattlesnake • brother, alive
Skullcrusher • wife, alive

Personality:
Bladebeak is a reserved dragon. She often avoids as much interacting with other dragons, especially those she doesn't know well, as much as she can. Bladebeak relies on Skullcrusher for the social aspects of being a leader, sharing the rank with her wife. Bladebeak tends to be very candid, brutally so. Almost to a fault, really. Which ties into her antisocial behavior, struggling to find dragons who appreciate her candor and see past her harsh words to the sentiment that she is trying to relay. Bladebeak tends to be overly trusting, complimenting Skullcrusher's overly trusting nature nicely and the two having an even middle through one another. Bladebeak finds humor is dark subjects, often trying to succeed in making her clan laugh by poking fun at the dark circumstances. While it doesn't work well, Bladebeak is aware that her clan still appreciates her efforts. Bladebeak has a facade of cold, calculative confidence vut shes actually a stressed, anxiety riddled mess in the form of a Fae. Often her nerves will prompt her into accidentally making a tense situation even worse.

History:
Bladebeak was the firstborn of Iris Clan leader Ghoul and her husband, and general, Adder. Her clutch was an absolute disaster, having been nearly completely destroyed by an Imperial that Ghoul and Adder had killed the moment they were found. Bladebeak began life as Python, a name she hates with the passion of a thousand burning suns. Bladebeak's life was rough, frequent brutal and harsh battle training with her mother. While Adder was much less vindictive, manipulative, and controlling compared to Ghoul, he still had never been the best of dads. Bladebeak had an extremely rough childhood, all things considered, but found an orphaned Fae that was far from home. She brought him home, excited and hopeful that she'd have a brother, a friend. While Ghoul did adopt him, even naming him similarly to Adder and her heiress, she used Rattlesnake against Bladebeak. Just like she did everyone and everything else.

It wasn't until her teen years that Bladebeak discovered she was trans and had her first taste of freedom from her parents and the clan. She had met Skullcrusher, a Fae who grew up with three adoptive parents. Bladebeak had intially tried to attack and chase Skullcrusher away but the latter just laughed, making a comment about how Bladebeak was "cute when you're mad". A sentiment Skullcrusher maintains. Bladebeak had scowled but laughed, settling down. The two became fast friends. Bladebeak spent her nights spending time with Skullcrusher yet not giving out her name. The day Skullcrusher questioned why Bladebeak never shared her name. Bladebeak confided in her, Skullcrusher telling her that what she was feeling had a name and it was okay. By the end of the night, Skullcrusher gave her the name "Bladebeak".

Come adulthood, Bladebeak had taken over just as she was intended to. Adder was amazed with how his daughter turned out but Ghoul was ashamed. Everything that happened in her childhood and teen years had come to a head. Ghoul had begun to manipulate Rattlesnake into thinking he deserved to be the leader, not Bladebeak. That she was weak, pathetic, and bound to get everyone killed. This flung the clan into a civil war. Those who sided wuth Adder and Bladebeak and those who sided with Ghoul and Rattlesnake. By the end, the Uris Clan was distinctly smaller with the Dahlia Clan being much bigger. Many died during the war, including Adder. After Adder died, Bladebeak was utterly devastated. Yet, kept her cool. She and Rattlesnake, the latter having grown tired of the lack of any downtime, agreed to call a truce. They agreed that the clan would be split between the two, issuing out birders. Ghoul remained as Rattlesnake's advisor once she got too old for Rattlesnake to not worry about her dying like Adder had.
