O N A
Necromancer | Healer | Comedic | Rehabilitated

Ona is the first bogsneak in the Runelight Hallow, and prides herself on that achievement, despite the malicious intents behind it originally. She was born a tundra in the Plague territory, to a depressed mother whom had just lost her significant other. In size, Ona had much to desire, especially compared to her robust brother. Where he was healthy and happy, Ona was sickly, underweight and barely able to hold herself up. She lived in his shadow, and after all of the abuse and neglect her birthclan had inflicted upon her, she left to find somewhere that could find her useful.

In her search for a clan, Ona's mental health declined greatly, and she fell deeply into what others thought of as schizophrenia. No clan wanted to take this "crazy" dragon in, and every time she was sent away she fell deeper into dispair. Ona heard and talked to voices, ghosts and demons, which other could not hear. After a time in the Shadow territory, Ona felt she had no other choices. She found that the Shade was giving, and it gave her a choise. Stay, and serve the Shade forever, or leave and harness the Shade for her own gain, all the while spreading it's grasp. She choose to leave. And the Shade wanted her to infiltrate the Light.

When she found the Runelight Hallow, Eternity and Starfall did their best to train her in magic, and thought that her voices were signs of divination. She would make a good seer, they thought. They taught her to build an exoskeleton to house her slowly decaying body, and when she realized her health was declining faster than ever they found her blood infected. There wasn't anything they could do for her, and watched as she grew frail, long lines of raw skin covering her body that caused her pain when touched. Ona was dying, and they could do nothing.

Ona's power grew exponentially with her training, as did the power of the dead spirits she whispered to. The more she spoke to them, the more of her they took. Pieces of her soul would break off, and they consumed evey last bit of it.

Ona had a falling out with her trainers, but they didn't notice her descent into madness, at least not until she began to invite Shadetouched entities into the clan. But she was good at hiding, she was good at pretending.

After the incident with her only clutch of eggs, in which only one survived, HeartRune demanded she be watched. Mostyn worked with her most of the time, but she was hard to handle.

During the hours of the night when she was allowed to be alone, she harnessed her necromancy for her own gain. Tired of her own body, she built a suit of bone and rock to strengthen her, but nothing could stop the disease that wrought her body. Wasting away, day after day, she could feel the dark was not satisfied with her soul. It wanted more.

There came news of a miracle cure at work in Sornieth, giving dragons of sickness and age new vitality. When she caught word of the new cure, Ona felt a new excitement run through her. She needed to obtain this cure.

Consulting Helios, they worked together to try and recreate what Sornieth called the Bogsneak Mutagen.Helios was excited for a new project, but he was wary of Ona. He heard many things she said while she thought no one listened. He spent much of his time in close quarters with her, far into the caverns.

Ona knew he spoke to HeartRune. Reported her behaviour, snitched when she did something against clan laws. Ona was smart, keen to hide her intentions. If she could heal her wasting body, she could give herself to the Shade, and destroy these peace loving imbeciles.

Ona began to work with Helios's little helper, Skye. She knew she could manipulate the girl, intimidate her. Helios would never find out that she changed the composition of the caldron. Just a few add-in's that would make her especially strong...

They were so close. So close to achieving her redemption for being born a stunted burden. She would no longer need to be watched, no longer need a keeper. How much Ona had dreamed this day would come.

But Helios found out. He was going to put a stop on it, going to destroy her future. Ona couldn't let him get in her way, and with her very last ounce, Ona fought.

It had been an accident, or that's what Helios thought. Ona was good at pretending, so she screamed in fear as she was hurtled right into the cure, and there was a great crack of thunder as Ona hurdle one last punch at Helios. She went in, and drowned in the concoction.

Ona awoke weeks after that incident. She was surprized she was alive at all, honestly, but to be in the care of the clan healer was a whole other shock she wasn't sure she was happy about. They were probably holding her as a prisoner. Surely Helios had been damaged in that fight? It was strange that a sudden remorse overcame her. Did she feel bad for doing the alchemist harm?

Her body was different, that's for sure. The biggest thing was the shear lack of fur. But she radiated in warmth, her skin shiny and slick. There were long scars across her body, left over from the disease that had begun to rot her flesh. They were only scars, but she instinctually wanted to cast the spell she used to kill her pain. But she felt no pain anymore.

Now, where before her thin body was covered in a skelton of rock and bone, were stocky legs and great big wings..well big to her. She couldn't fly as a tundra, and she probably wouldn't even now. But she would be able to walk unaided again. She could feel that much strength in her body already.

Unfortunately, her face left a lot to be wanted. It was scarred and ugly, a little contorted too. She had two floppy, tattered fins were her horns had previously been. For little to no reason, her face made her cringe. She didn't want anybody to see it. Every time Vyrek, the healer, came to visit, she would look away in stubborn embarassment.

Ona always had a liking for the clan healer. He'd felt like a tundra after her own heart, and she knew he lusted for knowledge of the dead. But where she had magic, he had science. She knew what he got up to in his private time, and why he was so precise with a scalpel. But none of that seemed to bother him. He came and went from his infirmary with the repose of some kind of angel. He was gentle with her while doing daily examinations, and found some way to small talk with her. Some days she was particularly nervous to see him. Those days he would try a little harder to get her to talk with him. He even tried cracking a joke once. But only once. It was a bad joke.

She was a Bogsneak now, and her vitality had been restored. But that didn't seem to be all that had been restored. Ona slowly began to realize she felt something. It had been a long long time since she had felt anything. But for the gentle doctor with the gleaming red eyes, she felt something. She soon realized that what she'd interpreted as physical pain and unease was really just the feeling of having a soul, the weight of emotion in her chest.

Ona couldn't recall any of the emotions she had now. That is, she'd never felt real love, or compassion. Vyrek took care of her day to day, grew closer than any dragon had ever before. It was an amazing feeling. It made her see in color and hear music everywhere she went. The spirits of the dead no longer whispered dark obscenities to her. They were calm, quiet, even helpful. They were cheerful. Vyrek loved to listen to her chatter about the ghosts.

Ona changed in body and soul, but she has a lot of amending to do. She was mightily surprised she was allowed to stay, but HeartRune did assign another dragon to keep a close eye on her. Rhoswyn takes very good care of her now. Ona works to take care of her clan, whom had stayed so patient in the light of the shadetouched dragon she had been. Often she can be seen accompanying Vyrek on his outside duties, or even in his clinic. She still communes with the dead, but puts them to sleep instead of waking them.
