Of the couriers, Darius takes the job most seriously. Garlan and Vero will stay and chat after delivering a message, while Rius never will. He gives a polite goodbye and continues to his next job.

Rius is the youngest son of one of the clan's finest warriors and its finest hunter, and he is very proud of his family. He constantly worries about living up to his parents' images. This has led to his preoccupation with his own appearance. He and the other couriers bond over their high family expectations, as Garlan's mother is another fine warrior and Vero is descended from the Clan founders.


He has a very close relationship with Arsames, a proto manticore Darius met on one of his courier trips.
