Hewer Childish . Playful . Happy The Ghost Hatchling |
___ |
A blizzard billowed through the open, barren, cold lands of the Icewarden's special banishment grounds. A blizzard so great that not even a Tundra could survive this weather. And one didn't stand a chance against this howling storm. Hewer, a poor and unfortunate soul, was a victim of this storm, having lost his way back home when the winds filled with snowflakes started picking up, whipping against the little guy's fur like a thousand knives cutting against his skin. The cold was biting him like Ethereal Tricksters nipping at him with their sharp, almost luminous teeth, slowly stripping him of his soft, fluffy coat. It was terrifying, to say the least. He couldn't keep his eyes open for much longer, lids drooping as he slowly and painfully lost consciousness. His entire life flashed before his eyes, his siblings, his parents, living in the Icewarden's domain area as he was a descendent of the first ever Tundra created by their god, he had everything a little hatchling could ask for. But alas, Fate had other plans. His demise was planned soon into his childhood, only 4 years in, leading to his poor soul to become lost in this raging blizzard. Tiny silhouettes of Skydancers and Tundras fighting over the sea were seen in the distance, but too far for them to notice Hewer. He collapsed in the snow that enveloped his body and took his final dying breath, his lips forever stuck in a frown, and frozen tear marks stretched down his muzzle. Next thing he knew, he was awake and feeling colder than ever. The raging hurricane in the distance was still roaring, but the dragons fighting in the sky were gone, all but a faint memory that hurts to even try and remember. He ventured across the winter plains, the blizzard that once hurt him no longer pushing him to death. He looked down and noticed he looked a little translucent. "Why am I translucent?" he wondered out loud. Turning around to take in his environment, he noticed a little wing poking out of the blanket of snow he stood on. As he approached, he recognized it as his wing. Did he die? Yes, yes he did. He began to break down, wailing in distraught as he thought about how he has lost his perfect life. The life any hatchling would kill to have. But, to make his loneliness short, he heard another dragon weeping in the distance. Their voice echoed as if they were in a big room, which confused Hewer. So, off he went, searching to find this person that is crying. And then he saw yet another Skydancer, a translucent one like him, standing above a hole in the frozen lake. This Skydancer was sitting down by it, head down and ghostly tears dripping down his muzzle and dripping into the water without a splash, as if they were fazing through the water. He made up his mind. He shall do the honors to keep the dragon company! |
