Bloodscale Wing Guard

Sanguine was born with a very serious condition: even though his wings and mane were intact, there was not even one scale in his bleeding, afflicted body. His biological parents must have been horrified, because he was abandoned near an Plague Clan at a very young age(or at least this was what his latter caretaker told him so whenever she wanted to make him feel awful, always smiling devilishly). The Matriarch accepted him into the Clan, seeing him as undeniable proof the the Plaguebringer's Infection is spreading to others places other than Her domain.

Sanguine's apparent "blessing" gave him quite a few privileges in his new Clan. Even though there were some hatchlings from Flights other than Plague, kidnapped and brought to be raised as slaves, he was treated as a member of the Clan. That didn't mean his life was easy: as every Clan member, he had to fight tooth and nail to be treated with respect. But even the prospect of rising ranks was admirable to a non-Plague dragon, and that caused quite a stir between the other slaves, that viewed the Imperial hatchling with suspicion and envy. Sanguine never really forgot the moment when a certain blue Mirror tried to push him into The Wyrmwound, or when he saw a Fae slipping something in his food and spent days puking without stop afterwards. Sanguine grew up fighting both his colleagues and his illness to survive.

When pressioned into learning a fighting style, Sanguine denied wanting to fight at all, which angered the Matriarch, who was being moderately lenient in relation to his friendliness until that moment. To save his own life, the now young adult dragon hastily explained that there was no way that his diseased body could fight without killing him, what appeased her anger a little, just enough to spare him. He was put in the paws of an old mage Imperial called Kale, known for silently disapproving of the Matriarch actions and never teaching anybody. He was given an ultimatum: if he could not learn the art of magic before coming of age, he would be slayed as an useless waste of time. This "punishment" ended up being good for Sanguine, because Kale must have seen something in him that deserved to be saved and helped the younger Imperial to calm his mind and find his inner strenght. Kale became his mentor and friend.

It was with his mentor that Sanguine learned how to really live. Any type of kindness was squished and beaten out of him at a young age, but like the plants that flourish in the cold hard concrete at the worst odds, Sanguine's personality changed drastically with the guidance of Kane, becoming more sociable and outgoing. Gone was the scared hatchling trying to prove his worth, and a new, better Imperial was born.

As a melee fighter, he might have been defenseless, but with his newly-discovered blood magic abilities he was a brutal warrior.

Dusk, the Red-Winged Owlcat
He speaks Coatl's native tongue fairly well. Because of that, he's sort of an (overly enthusiastic but still effective) unofficial translator when communication becomes difficult. He also uses his gifts to help Aetherium forge Bloodscale armor when needed.
