This machine virus (VAI-russ) has been plaguing Goldensparc I.T. departments for a good many years now. The blame usually falls on tech illiterate executives misusing their personal consoles during work hours, because its method of baiting the gullible is always the same: A flashy popup declaring that YOU are the winner, and if you don't enter your last four digits immediately you won't be able to collect. A ridgeback with a beautifully long proboscis saying that they want to date YOU, and don't you want to chat? Or maybe the most cunning subterfuge of all, pretending to be a long lost lairmate who's amassed a small fortune that they wish to be routed between accounts, with a hefty kickback to YOU for the assist. The easily flattered and foolish are taken in posthaste, and the virus spreads through the whole company in a matter of days.

When attempting to sweep a system for this malware, a few common symptoms are usually noted. Images and texture files tend to glitch, rendering in as warped black and white checkerboard patterns. Strange neon pink pictograms of eyes appear at random in text, in desktop icons, permanently affixed to corners of screens -- consoles becoming awash in an unusable pink haze if technicians don't act quickly enough. A complete reformatting of the device is usually the most expedient solution. Facilities that have weathered through these outbreaks are often set back by months if proper backups aren't frequently updated, resulting in heightened tensions between tech departments and the managerial class.
