A plume of dust erupted from the pavement outside of the Tourmaline Archives as Mist landed. He tucked his wings gracefully along his sides, and shuffled them around for a second before settling. His silken purple overcoat rustled as he began to walk towards the great green-tinted doors of the building in front of him. He sighed deeply, and paid no attention to the mages and librarians that gave him worried looks as he passed. The glances were for good reason; Mist was the Advisor of Magicks to the Arcanist himself, and he rarely left the Astrolodome, much less showed up at the Archives. It's rare that the Arcanist needed something retrieved from here. Mist entered the library and visually scanned the building, looking for the lead librarian. He saw her head peeking out from above a large stack of thick books, all stacked on the librarians desk; to his well-trained eye they looked like historical recollections. Novels filled from cover to cover with accounts of decades or even centuries past, many even contained first-hand accounts from the members of other flights. These were often one of two copies; one kept in the library for preservation purposes, and one left with the flight that the book originated from. The librarian had her nose buried in one of the books from the pile: looked like it was the Archive's copy of Wyrmwound; An Arcane Study of Plague Diseases. Mist cleared his throat and chuckled to himself when the librarian jumped. Not waiting for her to speak, he began: I'm here to request a collection of scrolls; specifically the Lunarian series, barcode number 38295. The librarian opened her mouth to speak, but closed it before she could form any words. She stood and moved behind the desk, her giant wings shuffling as she moved. She towered over Mist, being an Imperial, but Mist paid no attention to the builds of the dragons he interacted with. While he didn't go out much, his outfit gave away that he worked directly with the Arcanist, and nobody, at least from his own flight, dared to speak to him, much less intimidate him. The librarian returned with a scroll case. It was a delicate shade of lavender, with silver gems encrusting the rim. A gold ribbon hung loosely from the edge, and the case was soft. Mist took the case gently from the librarian and tucked it into the pocket of his coat. |
