Biography

Forbidden Knowledge

Once a prince of the Wispwillow Grove
To knowledge's brink he did dove
To reach to the other side of the afterlife
And return his dear sister to this world

What he did not find was the elixir of life
When he touched the rivers of the underworld
He came back howling as his mind shattered
To the four winds his mind scattered
For what he saw, he was not meant to comprehend
To new heights did his mind transcend
Before it all came crashing down

Styx awoke in the rubble of his life forever altered
His parents at his feet, body changed, his world torn asunder
When once he looked upon the world with wonder
Now his sanity, his family, and his kingdom-
Gone forever because of his blunder,
Searching for forbidden wisdom

He/Him, the clan's spymaster, who carefully maintains knowledge both within and outside of Avalon. While Avalon has never been a clan much for war, the wealth of knowledge contained within the College of the Astrals must be protected from those who would use it for ill, and thus, Styx maintains an extensive web of agents to watch the Wild Hunt as well as any other clans that might seek to attack Avalon for either it's knowledge, or it's pacifistic and polytheistic attitudes.

Bonded and happily in love with the clan founder, Astraeus. They both have no biological children.

Likes: Riddles, games, Astraeus and Albedo. Coffee or caffeinated tea in copious quantities. Gossip, knowledge. Staying up for twenty hours or more to read books, play games, or pester his beloved Astraeus. Ravens and bats. Forbidden knowledge.

Disikes: Contrary to Shadow's penchant for trickery, Styx hates lies, particularly direct lies. Doesn't like chamomile tea. Also, he dislikes Gwynn and Pyriphleges.

Hobbies: Playing games, especially card games and riddles. Staying up incredibly late to read and tell stories. Enjoys freeform poetry, both reading and writing it.

Role: Avalon's Spymaster and Keeper of Secrets.

Virtues: Cheerful, perceptive, intelligent, loyal to a fault.

Vices: Slightly insane. Chronic insomniac, addicted to caffeine and never gets enough sleep. Holds grudges for long periods.

Fatal Flaw: Willing to do anything for his beloved Astraeus, including abandoning his old home and god for him. If something were to happen to the founder, Styx would use his network to avenge or save him at any cost, even if it meant putting Avalon itself at risk.

Backstory: Styx was once the prince and only heir of a small petty kingdom in what is now the Wispwillow Grove. Before, of course, his mother and father were massacred by none other than himself in a horrific magical accident.

He made the mistake of trying to access forbidden knowledge as a young adult.

Not for power, greed, or mischief, but to bring back his younger sister. Instead what he obtained from unleashing this knowledge was power and the death of not only his parents, but his kingdom and sanity as well.

Though Styx gained wisdom far beyond comprehension, it broke his mind, and his heart. He aimlessly wandered the land, searching for a purpose.

Until Astraeus found him, and gave him a purpose.

Now Styx shall happily follow him to the ends of Sornieth, and into the abyss itself if Astraeus asked, for as long as either of them live. And should something happen to Astraeus.. Styx would happily look into the abyss and bring it here.

In secret from Astraeus, Styx is considering finding a way to destroy both her and her Wild Hunt once and for all. He not-so affectionately calls her Pyri.
