The shadowy snapper had placed the cobra's fangs over the imperial's thick skin and watched as the venom sank deep inside. Citrine had burst forth in the following weeks, the scales peeling to make way for sparkling mountains.

Aule works his aberrant forge without the meticulousness of other smiths. He digs his claws in, holds his body to the earth, and works his pieces with power and determination. How he manages to create such intricately beautiful jewels with such little care is a mystery. Of fire, of hot metals, of the earth-born gemstones he knows all. It is as if he feels them buzz through the ground and into his low-slung torso.

A rare flyer, the smith keeps his wings folded often, only unfurling them when utilizing airflow in his craft. Once, Nessa inquired as to how long it had been since he had taken to the skies. Her question earned her only a quizzical brow and a thoughtful grumble before Aule was distracted again by his work.

Aulë, in Tolkien's world, was responsible for the fashioning and crafting the substances that made up the earth. As a smith, he gloried in the fashioning of artful and original things.

In Clan Galad, Aule is the smith. He works tirelessly in his forge to create armors, jewels, and rare gifts.

Relationships
Aule, when he was young, knew Orome, who was older than he. They reunited decades later. They are distant, but respectful of one another.

Aule is most fond of Ulmo and Manwe.

Story
Ice was not a good fit for Aule. Born in the Cloudscrape Crags, the cold air always seemed to reach into his bones. In his youth, he could gaze out across the sea and watch the fires burning. At night, the orange glow of molten ore lulled him to sleep.

Eventually, he left the icefields for the great furnace, where he was trained to be a smith by a heavy-handed snapper. The training was brutal, long, and left him changed, but he is one of the best smiths in the land.

A message came from a distant clan in the sunbeam ruins, sent by an ice dragon by the name of Orome. Aule remembered him -- the dark and dour creature had been quiet, yet good-hearted and reliable. The message called for aid, offering a forge and a home in exchange for work. Aule left for the ruins and joined Clan Galad.
