Biography

entomologist rioter

nicknames: marq (pronounced "mark", used interchangeably with full name in professional and casual settings alike), quiche (like the pie, used by family and close friends, often teasing), kisses (used by her young niblings "aunt kisses! aunt kisses!" in attempting to pronounce "quiche")
pronouns: she/her
age: late thirties?
- very bold, colorful outfits, warm colors especially
- short, fat, warm medium brown skin, black curly hair cropped to buzz cut (frequently dyed different colors?), septum piercing
- various bug tattoos across body, all highly detailed/anatomically correct, almost like a diagram. wasp on back of neck, beetle wings cascading down left shoulder/arm, ants on knuckles of right hand, praying mantis on right calf, dragonfly on inside of right forearm tucked against elbow, firefly just above left knee, cricket behind right ear. she can tell you what family and species each one is.
- bright and forceful/confident personality. intelligent, perceptive, and passionate about her work. gets P*SSED by how academia is structured and funded, and has a hard time not getting into arguments about it. f*ckin loves her job when not caught up in that bull
- blending the metallic arts with biological systems to better understand the presence and role of emotions in insect taxas. works most frequently with Coleoptera (beetles), but has been involved with studies of other orders like hymenoptera (wasps, ants, bees), orthoptera (grasshoppers, crickets) and odonata (dragonflies)
- doesn't riot people very often without their knowledge and consent (mostly usually practices on an assistant during experiments to test she's aiming for the right human emotion, then see if she can get a similar effect in the test subject), but if she does, it's highly focused and precise. she's good at controlling the strength of it, and she could pull out a chart with very technical terms detailing the breakdown of different emotions into their constituent parts lmao (do i know what those are hell no)
- has a separate emotion wheel chart for what she's figured out for bugs
