[An alien?] Lights had streaked the sky like smears of chalk dust, the night the creature was found. There was no nest surrounding it, not even footprints in the sand -- only pieces of eggshell, and the tiny form curled inside. Curious, they brought it back with them, still wet from its egg. The whole flock gathered around. It was no dragon, they said in hushed, grateful voices. It was unlike any dragon they had ever seen. But there was something behind those big orange eyes. A certain cleverness. And so, the harpies took it in.
