Info:
  • Nymphs were charged with protecting the earth, but their influence went beyond the environment
  • Nymphs(Minor Goddesses) were usually associated with fertility, growing things, such as trees, or with water. They were not immortal but were extremely long-lived
  • In the Greek view of the world nymphs could be found almost everywhere. They were generally very shy of people, however, so they were rarely seen by mortal humans.
  • Meliae (probably meaning all tree-nymphs) were born from the drops of blood that fell on Gaia [Earth] when Cronus castrated Uranus.
  • The Meliae were always invoked as a group, although in a few myths, some of them are given individual names
  • Ash trees are associated with healing, protection, divination, and renewal
