Magic is one of three ethereal apprentices in the Stargloam. Despite being of the light element, Magic's unusual unhatched egg was discovered in the Starwood Strand, presumably having been transported there by a mysterious force. Magic eventually began learning from the ethereal mages and is highly talented.

He is the most even-keeled of the apprentices by far. When he is not practicing or learning, he can often be found reading storybooks from the library to hatchlings.

Magic's mellow nature makes him easy to overlook, while the more tempestuous mages get more attention. Should ethereal magic become overwhelming for him, there is a risk his teachers will not notice until the problem is severe.
