One day, in the early morning just after dawn, Balu discovered an abandoned plush. Taking him home and brushing his dirt off, she was astonished to learn.. this was no plush. At least not the ordinary kind..

Hatched on the Day the Aethers Returned, Jojen was confused by where he was, at first. Soft light filtered in through countless leaves, painting the dappled shadows green and blood-red. Then, a face stared down at him- a kind face. Balu, his first friend, took him home and brushed the dead leaves and dirt carefully away. Upon realizing that this was no toy, but a newly hatched, very strange dragon- and upon hearing how others had hatched on the very same day, come home from the distant stars- Balu decided to offer Jojen a permanent home. Jojen was happy to accept. He spends his days fluttering from here to there as Balu's assistant. Balu rarely sleeps, but Jojen is not a Snapper. He is often found draped aross Balu's head, or tail, snoring softly. They are an unlikely duo, but Jojen loves Balu fiercely.
