26th day of Shadow, 1284 A.S.
It is a fundamental fact of dragon biology that one's element is indicated via their eyes. As a consequence, complete heterochromia of unrelated colours is non-existent in dragons. If it were to exist, it'd suggest that the dragon either has some inexplicable defect in their biology or - a radical yet more reasonable explanation - that they feel the influence of two elements.
This is what I wish to create in my experiment. I want to transcend the natural order and create something beautiful, something powerful, to prove it can be done.
Of course, such an ambition is not without its obstacles. Mearkl tells me that my idea is a betrayal of ethics because of my tampering with a living being. I argued she had no right to judge me given her position as a magibiologist, to which she retorted she does so non-invasively. She still doesn't believe me, but it's not a huge issue, and neither are funds or resources for the experiment: my biggest hurdle is being approved.
The Farseeker University, as much as it encourages exploration, draws the line on anything that puts a being at risk. Needless suffering is not within their books. But I'm not going to cause needless suffering; I'll do my experiment on an egg, an unhatched dragon, surely that is legal. And if it's not, I shall have to resort to secrecy to make it happen.

1st day of Wind, 1284 A.S.
I've decided to play it safe and conduct my work in secret. I cannot risk losing my position with such a radical experiment, so I've taken a trip to my hometown Allayra under the pretense of a three-month vacation.
The egg I've acquired is a Plague egg, one I've... unlawfully taken from two Aether dragons in the nearby town. I had to replace it with a rotted egg to allay suspicion. Though, with them having had a full clutch of seven eggs, a dead egg shouldn't be a huge concern.
In order for my experiment to work, I must imbue a newly aligned egg with immense elemental energy of a different type. I've managed to source a vast amount of Nature energy from gem guardians; it's not as if they'll need those gems of theirs, they can always find more. Now comes the long process of carefully incubating the egg in Nature energy.
