It is a fundamental fact of dragon biology that one's element is indicated via their eyes. As a consequence, complete heterochromia of unrelated colours is non-existent in dragons. This is what I wish to create in my experiment. I want to transcend the natural order and create something beautiful, something powerful, to prove it can be done.
Of course, such an ambition is not without its obstacles. Mearkl tells me that my idea is a betrayal of ethics because of my tampering with a living being. I argued she had no right to judge me given her position as a magibiologist, to which she retorted she does so non-invasively. She still doesn't believe me, but it's not a huge issue, and neither are funds or resources for the experiment: my biggest hurdle is being approved.
The Farseeker University, as much as it encourages exploration, draws the line on anything that puts a being at risk. Needless suffering is not within their books. But I'm not going to cause needless suffering; I'll do my experiment on an egg, an unhatched dragon, surely that is legal. And if it's not, I shall have to resort to secrecy to make it happen.

Now comes the long process of carefully incubating the egg in Nature energy.
