Anxious / Timid / Careful

Rory was always a little strange growing up. When he hatched, the first thing he saw was Ira, and he immediately attached himself to the Skydancer. Rory was eager to prove his worth and help his adoptive father with his crafts, however small. No matter how nefarious in nature, he admired how skillfully the charms were put together by Ira, such delicate little jinxes that could irreversibly impact a dragon's life.

However, the first time Ira left the lair to sell his wares, Rory's separation anxiety drove him to eat pages and pages out of Ira's books or journals. Enraged and confused by this behavior, Ira pushed Rory off onto Alexie to babysit. Ira wasn't around very much to begin with, and Rory needed some kind of supervision when he was away.

Spending time with Alexie was both strange and fun. She let Rory embrace his quirks and later discovered that Rory was able to sense magical energies with those faceted eyes of his. Arcane energies, specifically.

Rory has incredible self control over his Aether instincts and prefers to hoard paper rather than eat it. This paper fascination developed his skills for paper making and bookbinding early on, giving him a productive outlet for organizing his hoard and making something significant with it. This craftiness was definitely learned from his adoptive father, Ira.

His most recent exploits include writing the history Vilde Chaya, jotting down any or all major events and stories as they happen. Sometimes, he even writes about their everyday experiences. Rory does not want his clan to be lost to time, and his books provide the opportunity to preserve their story. So far, he has written two volumes.

Sometimes, he does make books for the sole purpose of eating them (not that he would admit it to the clan). With his leftover materials, Rory likes making spare little books for either himself or Binx and presses flowers into them. It's apparently an incredible snack.

Two Aether eggs of the same nest were shuffled in the chaos of the Astrolab's crash landing. One remained in the Starfall Isles after being fished out of the ocean, while the other found its way to the Scarred Wasteland. Ironically enough, it was actually Binx who brought the two brothers back together.

The first two Aethers of the clan couldn't help but gravitate towards each other. For Rory, this was the first time he ever met one of his own species, and Binx helped him discover who he truly was and brought enrichment to his everyday life. The two couldn't be anymore opposite in personality- the only thing in common being their obsession for books. Rory couldn't help but to fall in love anyway.

Ira was out gathering supplies for his charms and hexes when he noticed a weird egg bobbing in the ocean. A weird egg that, after fishing it out of the water, later hatched into Rory. Many find the Skydancer so be quite shady and conceited, but Rory has come to find him to be something of a father figure regardless.

Growing up, Rory spent a lot of time in Alexie's care, especially when Ira was out and about doing Arcanist knows what. She basically raised him from when he was just an egg, and Rory has a lot of respect for her, even if others do not.

Rory is often annoyed by Blight, who has made it her personal mission to oversee whatever it is that he writes about. As self-important as she is, Blight is always talking his ears off, wanting him to write down any and all of her daily exploits.

Is it the way that it is or just the space that I'm in
That's got me jumping straight into a black hole?
To find a place I can live, where we can both coexist
