Biography

Unlike Alistair, Erin was much more fond of mortals. To be fair, he had been one before, right? There was no reason to look down upon them so much.

Or, rather... He did pity them, to an extent. Whatever he could do to help them, he'd do it. Some sort of blessing? Sure. You can thank the gods, if you want. A cure to an uncurable disease? With soul magic, you could pretend mortal bodies could never fall sick in the first place. Easy fix.

Alistair didn't like the attention, but Erin? Oh, he lived for it. He thrived when showered by the love of others. Their respect, their admiration, their sheer obsession... Being worshipped like a god was something that he had found very appealing, if he were to be honest.

With immortality, he had been consumed by the sins of mortality in a way. He'd indulge on his desires, no matter how big or small. He once had sought after all the pie and cake he could find, from all corners of the world. He ate through all of it, every last bite and crumble, using his magical prowess to avoid all the limitations of mortals bodies (why, you can just make your stomach empty by using magic if you REALLY want to).

He also once transformed a whole desert into a lush forest, only to be forced to once again revert it by his brother. Something about messing with the biosphere on a level that was unnaceptable for mortals. Well, whatever! Erin would just find a new desire of his to fulfill.

The mages guild has a circle of archmages, of which it is divided between the bronze, silver and gold archmages. On the very top is the grand archmage, followed by his immediate successor, a platinum archmage.

Research on Alistair and Erin was kept to the grand archmage, the platinum archmage and few select gold archmages. Not much is known about the two immortals.

Alistair had always been more of a recluse, the historical documents show. He was quiet, reserved, perhaps a bit calculating as some of the mages argued. He never made much of a show of himself or his powers, and instead opted to only ever act when strictly needed. Many of the researchers pointed out he seemed to have a deeper understanding and respect of the comic laws and balance than his brother, and perhaps would have been accepted as a mage if he ever tried to pursue an academic title to himself.

On the other end there was Erin, a flamboyant creature with an almost pathological need to be in the spotlight. He was childish and reckless, and didn't seem to appreciate the balance of the universe itself. Erin saw in magic an infite source of power and potential, and if he were any more ambitious he could've become the very nightmare mages dread: a source of misuse of magic and chaos, destroying the fabric of existence by pushing every boundary and breaking every cosmic law possible, just to satisfy his whims.

Thankfully, Erin was not at all concerned with any of that. Well, most of the time. His desires seemed to be material, and in most cases pretty harmless, all things considered. Most documented cases were just silly requests blown out of proportion.

One interesting fact, discovered by a previous platinum archmage, is that Alistair had conspired with the grand archmage to craft magical shackles for his own sibling, fearing Erin might one day cross a line that could not be uncrossed. Before the spell could be completed, however, the siblings both vanished; there's a partially translated manuscript with details of the incomplete spell sitting in the grand archmage's vault, if there's ever a need for such an artifact.

Perhaps with Erin's unfortunate return, Sedelae might be forced to complete the spell...
