Biography

researcher menace
oh god, is it EATING them??
— — —
A spunky young aether who found her way to Lockjaw by something halfway between a witch’s curse and a miracle, Lepisma was advised to visit the library to learn the clan’s history. What happened next was nothing short of a horror film for Dimitri, though Lepisma was thrilled to be starring in it;
The thing that came from beyond the stars crawled through the darkened rows of bookshelves, kicking up spore dust from dimly glowing mushrooms as it passed by them. Its wings flittered, mimicking the dull buzzing of insects, and six long, thin legs clicked on the stone floor—or maybe the wall? as it moved. Dimitri caught it in the beam of his hooded lantern, and its eyes reflected sickly green, almost like an animal’s. But his eyes were fixed on the strange tendrils which shot out from around its neck, flailing and flicking in what was undeniably a threat display. And its head… oh, gods, its head. Atop its angular face, which was made only slightly less intimidating by the fluff which surrounded it, were a pair of yellowed antlers, behind which was a… structure? animal? something else? He wasn’t sure, but it writhed in the air above the winged horror, and the growths atop its segmented form shone and warped in a way that made his head swim. Then, as quickly as it had been there, it was gone, leaving only a flurry of moth-eaten pages and a skittering sound in its wake.
Dimitri chased the thing around the library for HOURS before finally cornering her when she holed up in a reading nook, eager to devour a book on Clan Lockjaw’s founding and establishment as a prominent figure around the Quarantine Zone. No longer afraid and mostly just irritated, he offered her a suggestion; go stay with the actress, Maggie. She always had interesting papers lying around, and most of them weren’t of the same importance as the library’s own archives.
Lepisma eagerly took this advice, and scuttled off to find Maggie, rambling under her breath about her “fancy hat” and how it “kept telling her to eat him instead of the books”.
Now her researching days are done, and she’s content to stay with Maggie, eating old or rejected scripts and occasionally serving as an alien monstrosity for creature feature films. She can be quite terrifying at times, but is utterly unaware of this.
