Lullaby

Space can have strange effects on us all, you can become quite disillusioned when you’re left alone for so long. Lullaby was confined to an escape pod when the original ship uh, left orbit. He was just barely hatched, confused, alone, floating. That was until something reached out to him.

When he finally made it to the ground below, the secrets of the cosmos littering his fur and fine wings, a mad look in his eye and too much knowledge to be contained within a single being he quickly became overwhelmed with it all. Too much to take in, so much more to understand. Folks tried to help him as many clans had taken in his kind over the past few months, but he spoke a language no one could comprehend. Other Aethers couldn’t even figure out what had happened to him. All anyone who interacted with him could agree on was that being around him made them feel strange. He often never stopped talking, even quietly, his words leaking out much like the strange smoke that exuded from his mouth.

Lullaby was eventually found out in the strand and it was difficult to know what to do. He seemed so lost, just fluttering among the trees. In the end he was unofficially adopted into the clan. With several dragons keeping an eye on him as he floated around. He never seemed to rest, almost like he was just so full to the brim with energy that if he was to stop moving or talking for even a moment he might simply just combust.

Eventually, someone gently asked the All Mother for help. She tore herself away from her spire once for the Aether when their ship crashed and she would do so again for Lullaby. Still so much smaller than him, Kilde gently took ahold of Lullaby’s face and for the first time that anyone had seen, he stopped. He stood still and he fell quiet. The two shared a small, silent moment before the All Mother broke away. For a brief moment, exhaling the same smoke that leaked from Lullaby’s lips.

He didn’t remain silent for long though and resumed his constant nattering but now, he did so in a common tongue. The All Mother wasn’t able to make sense of what happened to him but she was able to finally break the language barrier between them. He was able to interact more, learn to read and soon set on his journey of understanding. He wants, no. He NEEDS to get back out into space. He has to know. Lullaby is currently making every effort to find out how to build his own ship but those with the knowledge are wary of giving it to him, in their defence they’re worried about anyone repeating the same mistakes the Aether originally made but that’s not going to stop him, not in the slightest.
