Biography

THE FIFTY-FIFTH CARVING
Doreen : brooding and sorrowful

Carved on the day of Fortune

The guardian sits atop a pedestal with a mirror at its front.

A most curious statue, this one is. The guardian sits atop his pedestal neatly, all four limbs drawn together. His head, however, is facing downwards. Partially obscured by his mane, which has been carved around the head, framing the face. His eyes are closed, and his brow is heavily furrowed; he seems as if he could begin to cry

His wings are drawn inwards, and droop down his back.
His tail limply flops over the back half of the pedestal, hair at the end messy and frayed.
Sitting between his two front paws is a small orb, crafted from…it seems to be nothing more than dried mud and clay.
Strange for a guardian. Upon close inspection, It is able to be picked up, as well. Removing it from its place reveals a rough, uneven divot in the stone. As if something else may have been in its place before. . .

Built into the front-facing side of the rectangular pedestal is a framed mirror. It is large— nearly the width of the pedestal itself, but not nearly as tall. Unfortunately, it looks to be broken. A grand crack has run up it, splitting the pane with a rivulet of lines— and fracturing any reflection it may have once been able to show.

When standing in front of the statue, the air feels quiet and still. The presence is heavy, uncomfortable.
Surely, it would not be pleasant to linger very long. . .

It is curious, why the Two would craft the guardian in this manner; sullen, broken.
This guardian’s chosen clan, surely, will be stricken with misfortune. . .

Perhaps he can be fixed. . . ?
