"verglas" is a thin layer of ice over things in English, and black ice in French, and also a funky ice beam gun in Warframe. My brain goes to that last one immediately. But also the other night in stream chat sib asked why the hell said gun is even called that and like three ppl immediately jumped on explaining the etymology to them and it was such a fun lil moment so that's the energy I'm channeling into this now
