observation log 42-63-88.
Subject (henceforth referred to as Halogen) has been observed in a nearby sector of space. Halogen appears to prefer the form of a female Aether, so myself and other researchers have taken to using feminine pronouns when referring to her. Halogen approached the star at the center of a planeteary system in the sector, staring into it for approximately 9 days, Sornieth time.

After 9 days of observation, Halogen moved closer to the star and landed on its surface. No theories currently explain why she is able to come into contact with something as hot as the surface of a star. With careful use of her mandibles, Halogen tore out the core of the star, and started to consume it with apparent enthusiasm; observations noted that she appeared to be "playing with her food" at multiple points.

Once the core was consumed, Halogen's eyes flared a bright yellow. Almost as if commanded, the remains of the star gravitated towards her, and she began to absorb the star into her body. Theories currently suggest two things: First, that this is her main method of feeding, with the consuming of the core being how she "kills" her prey. Second, that the markings on her body, resembling the sky at night, are made up of stars she has previously consumed.

We do not know if Halogen will approach Sornieth's sector. At the moment, she seems content to leave us alone and focus on consuming every star in other sectors. This may be because she is fond of the Aether species, or it may be because other stars prove more enticing. If it is the latter, we must prepare for the worst. Halogen may well consume all the stars in the sky, and finally turn her ravenous gaze upon our own sun.
