History Memory had seen it happen a thousand times. A tragic moment happens and the one who suffered it would do their best to erase it from their mind. Distract from the moment, put all that energy into something else, cry it out and forget about it as soon as possible… As long as it got rid of the memory, any method would do. The black dragon peering out from under long blue strands used to be the same, used to think the same way, used to do all of the things people suggested. Memory’s name hadn’t always been Memory, and it was an uncommon name in the area, so people often got curious when he introduced himself. “Why is your name Memory?” Sometimes, bad memories and negative feelings are necessary, Memory had decided long ago. Sometimes, if we forget the memory, we forget all the important things that go along with it. Memory closed his beautiful eyes as the death of his beloved mate flashed through his mind. Exalted too early. Too young, too beautiful, too tragic. He wouldn’t forget those memories, even if they hurt him. He wouldn’t forget the sadness he felt when he lost her. If he did, then he’d forget her. He’d forget all the times they fought side-by-side, the times they danced through the air together, and every single happy memory they shared together. Memory was named “Memory” because every single memory, no matter how it made him feel, was important to him. He was named “Memory” because he would forever serve as a reminder that forgetting isn’t always the best option. He was named “Memory” because memories were more important to him than anything else, now that he no longer had her by his side. |
