The Kingdom of Sunshore now sleeps in jagged pieces beneath the violent waves, its name and history lost, as though all the world had forgotten it. It is a place where no one dares to go. Not even the fish of Water’s domain dare swim into its ruins. What was once a prosperous and lively port is now silent as a grave. Yet beneath the light of the Worm Moon, the kingdom’s remaining inhabitants stir. Waves lapped against the walls of the castle tower, unusually calm as Glitz uncurled and stretched. Spray dampened the fur of the beast yet she yawned unbothered, blinking sleep from her eyes and smoothing down her coat. Only at the faintest sound of a pattering hidden amongst the waves did she turn her attention toward the outside, her tail beating against the ground. Nacre bounded across the waves, across ripples and through the spray in play. He skidded to a halt upon the tower balcony, shaking water from his pelt before entering. A large pink shell was grasped in his jaws as he skipped inside, wagging his tail and smiling at his mate. He dropped the shell in the great pile she’d curled around, only to freeze as a loud crack sounded from within. The sound was followed by more and more, then the shuffling and jingling of treasure as two young creatures emerged from the pile. Their hides were encrusted with the treasures of the sea. The first bore shells and pink sand in her coat. She dashes along the beaches, spreading pink sands as she runs. It falls upon villages, ports, and kingdoms, sending all who touch it into endless slumber. She knows no better, for all she sees left of them is their treasures cushioned upon vibrant sand. Nacre howled happily into the night as Glitz embraced their children. Soon they run freely in the night, and all the treasures of the world would be theirs.
