Whispering Wisps
Ceaselessly murmuring,
eternally hissing,
never a moment of silence.

What do they say,
These wayward spirits,
That gather in fading light?

They will make your mind
break
and shatter

They tell you secrets no one should know,
They tell you where the Edge Of The World is,
hoping you will go.

They will break your mind,
send you spiraling out of control
They pick up the pieces,
repair you again,

I cannot escape what speaks in my head.
Crania had always been a bit... strange, from the moment she hatched. Her eyes swirled inward hypnotically, making it hard to meet her gaze. She'd trailed after her father's footsteps, learning spells that neared the thin line between dark magic and the rest.

Because of this, it was hard to tell when it had started. Perhaps when she started wandering into the bleached forests, vanishing from sight as though consumed by the mist. Or maybe it was when she began collecting the small fragments of bones and skulls, stringing them together like morbid dreamcatchers. But, at some point, Crania met the Wisps.

Lost spirits, the twisted souls of fallen dragons, they lurked in the forests and murmured eagerly to the living Fae who walked among them, sharing wisdom and secrets. But not all secrets were theirs to share, or were suitable for those not departed.
