When you're the last of your clan do you call yourself a survivor or a failed martyr? Caer comes from a forest tribe that took pride on being excellent hunters and trackers. Their idyllic, hidden home was destroyed by an outraged ruler that didn't take it kindly when the leader of the tribe — Caer's mother — wouldn't serve him. The result was a devastating attack that wiped out everyone that lived there. Some ended up as slaves or prisoners if they didn't die in the bloodbath and some were saved by the fact that they were away during the first strike. Caer was with a hunting patrol and upon returning home found the village in flames and his mother from an inch of her life. With her dying breath she made Caer the new ruler, heir to a clan that had ceased to be, and then went on to join the eternal hunt where the most talented hunters go after passing.

Caer swore to avenge the lives that where lost that day. He honed his fighting skills, gathered a loyal following and on a gloomy autumn night slipped into the castle of the bloodthirsty ruler. Years had passed and the king was now old and when Caer struck an arrow through his heart, the king looked almost pitiful. Morning broke with the news of the king's passing and how the castle had been engulfed in flames. Fire and blood didn't bring back Caer's clan, home or mother but it brought some kind of peace of mind.

After getting his revenge there was the new challenge of figuring out what to do next. Life seemed a bit pointless even with the new found peaceful state of mind. Caer ended up traveling far, far away until his homeland only seemed like a memory. A place he would return in his sleep where his clan was thriving and no one was dead.

He settled in Gloamhold and lived comfortably as a hunter. At some point the talk of Caer's exceptional skills reached the ears of warden of Gloamhold who offered him a place in the court as a royal archer and trainer of the city's rangers. Caer accepted and found new purpose for his life with this new title. Still enjoys going on hunts for the fun of it and learning about wildlife and surrounding wilderness.

There's a hint of sadness in the spiral's eyes if you look deep enough and the surrounding air almost seems to have a distant smell of smoke. Some fires stay ablaze for decades.
