Biography

Wolf is a born hunter. Follower of Hircine and a pack dragon who is always there to give their packmates a boost when they need it most.

One cool Autumn evening Wolf was alone on a hunt by the Reedcleft ascent cruising through the water with nothing but a ripple. Cold predatory eyes broke the surface and scanned the lower cliffs. There in the distance stood a hoofed creature with its head down.

Wolf moved in as a great long shadowy streak in the water to get a better look. The deer took a step forward but something about its movements seemed familiar. Slow, careful and quiet without taking its eyes off something in front of it. It was hunting something.

Then in a burst of movement the Nychtmares powered forwards just out of sight into the thick bamboo shoots. Wolf launched out of the water up to get a better look at what this strange prey looking animal was hunting.

The Nychtmare had a Dreameater cornered against the base of another cliff. It flared its nostrils and sharpened its hoof on the ground. But the Dreameater couldn't back down. It stood tall and and swung its massive head from side to side in a fierce show of its tusks as a warning.

Wolf landed in a pile of leaves that had blown into a corner for cover but the sound alerted the Nychtmare. Its ears swiveled around at the disturbance and started to turn its head to look at the large creature. A dragon. It raised it tail defensively and backed away from the Dreameater. But the Dreameater saw its attacker was distracted and bulldozed forwards in a heavy stampede.

Wolf locked eyes with the Nychtmare as it fell beneath the feet of the Dreameater. A resigned look of understanding and acceptance. Dragons were feared creatures and if the dreameater didn't kill it the dragon surely would. The Nychtmare closed its eyes and went to angle its antlers under the Dreameater is it came down. At the very least they would go down fighting.

But time seemed to slow. The Dreameater paused overhead seemingly frozen in time. Not only that but energy coursed through his hooves. He looked back to the dragon and Wolf looked like they were almost grinning a friendly wolfish grin.

With a small run up the Nychtmare lowered its head and with this new found strength threw the Dreameater off one of the nearby cliffs. It vanished half way down retreating into the spirit realm but it would never return to this territory. It would have to find its bad dreams elswhere.

Wolf gave a trusting slow blink to the Nychtmare, impressed and proud of the creature for taking on something twice its size. This creature was no prey. They slunk back into the water and decided to head back home to tell the story to their friend and hunting buddy Decker.

Late that night in the underwater ice caves Wolf twisted in their sleep. Decker lay crumpled on the floor before an impossibly large toad creature. They kept trying to help Decker up but nothing seemed to be working.

Then out from the hedges nosed the Nychtmare. His form shimmered slightly but he seemed stronger. Energy rippled from from his coat and he strutted over to Decker. He towered over little Decker like an ominous shadow but all he did was shake and a soft shimmering of magic snowed down onto the dragon.
Then he turned his attention to the toad and it started to hop away.

With a smile the Nychtmare chased after it into the depths of the mire and they were gone. Decker took in a deep breath and opened his eyes seemingly completely unharmed. Wolf gently headbutted Decker relieved he was ok and he awoke to a feeling of relief.

There in the ice cave stood the Nychtmare with that friendly toothy smile but as Wolf woke up fully he faded into nothing with the silent promise of returning when the nightmares returned
