MAPLE
The Magic of Autumn

Bio: A single maple leaf blew off a tree in mid-autumn and was carried away on the wind. Against all odds, the wind kept it in motion, flying over miles and miles of land, past many dragons and animals, until it finally came to a rest on the forest floor. In the next instant, the leaf turned into a dragon. Maple sprung to life, full of magic and vigor. She had vague memories of all the things she'd passed by as a leaf, and the possibilities in the world excited her.

Unlike many of the other spirits, Maple adores mortals, and loves spending time with them. She likes to show off her tricks, as she calls them, putting on amazing shows in the little daylight she has at her full power. Maple can make fallen leaves come to life. These animated leaves can take on any shape she wants and perform actions, be carried on an invisible breeze, and even deliver magical messages from one person to another. Maple only has this power over autumn leaves that have already hit the ground, and it only works until the leaves start to rot and return to the soil. So her power is strongest in the autumn.

The rest of the year, she puts on a travelling cloak and leaves the Borogrove, seeking her fortune elsewhere. Though no one can be sure about her resting period, rumor has it that in the coldest part of winter, Maple becomes a wooden statue, not unlike the ability true Obelisks have to revert into a stone shape. If so, she likely emerges as soon as the buds come out on the maple trees in the Borogrove, though the won't see Maple herself until the air smells of frost and the leaves start to change.
