Zuberi was just a typical employee of the Shifting Expanse. Nothing very interesting happened in his life until he was walking across the Highland Scrub and found a younger Light knight beaten and about to be finished off by the local highway robbers. Zuberi chased off the raiders with his superior magic and nursed the knight, Ayotunde, back to health. He was alarmed when the honor-obsessed crusader swore eternal servitude to him in gratitude, but was unable to drive him away and thus came to accept the situation.
Ayotunde began to take care of the domestic duties while Zuberi focused on his work, and after some time Zuberi received a message from his old friend, Callum. Now a part of the Nature Flight, Callum requested Zuberi's help in the clan's plans to build a better mechanics system for transferring cargo up and down the seaside cliff, among other smaller tasks. Excited to travel for the first time in his life, Zuberi went to their aid with Ayotunde in tow and eventually decided to stay with Sideris-on-Riverbank as their Lightning priest and chief engineer.

Zuberi is highly intelligent and strategic, but his social skills and ability to focus on tasks other than technology are less developed. He is easily overwhelmed by Ayotunde and other more outgoing dragons, but neither does he want to be alone - just surrounded by fellow thinkers. He seeks authority figures and looks to them for guidance, more happy following a set of instructions and working on projects rather than being left to entertain himself.
