Alusair started out like anyone else of his early age; with a big dream and a big heart. he grew up in a family that was supportive and incredibly down to earth, so if he were to have any sort of interest in an occupation foreign to them, they were the ones to push him more than he would. he started out with an earnest goal to become a fantastic inventor, known for the genius projects he would display to the world and the fame that would follow his feats. and so he worked hard for that living, switching from job to job, town to town, determined to make a dream come true. that, however, was until he stumbled into a city of wonder, wishes and wisdom, where he would meet two dragons he would end up loving more than anything. within this village, Alusair first worked as an assistant. to be more specific, a necromancer’s assistant. at first, the coatl didn’t think much of the job. sure, it was neat and grabbed the attention of gullible travelers, but it wasn’t for him. though.. it was because of this job that he meets Changbai and Ailyth; twins, who, by accord, were incredibly captivated by the study of the strange magic. after further conversation, and what was them bonding over their eerily similar goals to make a positive impact on the world, they found they had nothing to lose when they were together. so, Alusair inquired the necromancer he worked for—Nekonaata—about teaching him further about the practice. she would graciously accept, a sly and knowing smile crossing her lips as he had averted his eyes out of the shyness the question begged. as Alusair completes his training, she steps down as the lead necromancer, intent on giving the position to her devoted apprentice. after denying the role several times, insisting he could never do as well as aged imperial, he gives up and accepts. he was secretly ecstatic but will never admit it. furthermore, Alusair would end up falling madly in love with Ailyth, and she the same, and though she wouldn’t appear as physically attached to her partner as he was to her, she would love him unconditionally. every now and then, he’ll think about life as an inventor. but it feels distant. muffled. even foreign. because it hasn’t happened. it can’t. it won’t. it won’t. it won’t. |
