Kotatsu got lost one day while hunting for food and ended up being rescued by the clan. He never left.

Kotatsu's special skill is that he is capable of eating anything without being harmed, including toxic waste. He is usually the physically strongest dragon in this clan, although he will refuse to work if he is hungry (which happens to be most of the time). The one exception to this rule is coffee. If Kotatsu consumes coffee he will go on a nigh unstoppable rampage, which has caused Trashcan to take away his caffeine privileges. Kotatsu is also banned from every dragon Dunkin Donuts.

The last time an unfortunate, unwitting soul gave Kotatsu a matcha latte, a whole city block was razed and 20 dragons were sent to the hospital, at least four in critical condition. Chair and Trashcan debated deporting Kotatsu back to Light Flight due to his unpredictable nature, but Miach ended up advocating for his partner to stay. Kotatsu is the faculty head of the Academy's Cuisine Club which, despite its name, will eat practically anything with little regard for luxury or lack thereof.
