Biography

Opium was born on the borders between The Sea of a Thousand Currents and The Windswept Plateau. The nest in which he was hatched was nestled in the Reedcleft Ascent, so despite being the child of the Tidelord, he was born with bright green eyes.

He grew up among the happy, chattering, constantly moving Wind Dragons. One would think that being surrounded by that attitude would make him a busy, enthusiastic young Guardian...but that isn't the case at all. In stark contrast, Opium is a slow-moving, calm, and overall kind of lazy dragon who prefers rest over roughhousing. He could often be found at the mouth of his den, moments away from sleep at any time, uninterested in the comings and goings of those around him. The only thing that could get him up and moving was the shimmer and shine of metals and crystals. He would hoard a collection of jewelry, scrap, and stones in his personal den, observing them for hours at a time. He would spend days on end arranging and rearranging his collection. That was, until, he felt the pull that all Guardians do.

He found the need to Search rather annoying – he didn't want to leave his home in order to find some unknown thing that would stop the constant pressure at the back of his mind. For months, he actively refused – but his mother all but ran him out of the clan, angry that he would ignore such an integral part of himself. Very suddenly an outcast, Opium traveled through The Windswept Plateau, somewhere between irritated and lost. Eventually he gave in to the incessant tug, the neverending assault on his mind urging him to Search.

It was during his wanderings that he met Vassago and his tiny clan. Opium saw that Vassago was almost a dead dragon walking, carrying some intense grief beneath his grumpy exterior, and he found himself compelled to stay. For a while, Opium believed he'd found his Charge, but was frustrated when the tugging continued. Nonetheless, he stayed by Vassago as he crossed the water into The Southern Icefield. And it was there that his Search finally ended. He continued to scout the new landscape even after Vassago settled his small band of followers into the Frigid Floes. It was in the Snowsquall Tundra that he met Aphexx – an Arcane Mirror who was traveling alone. He knew the moment he saw Aphexx that he had found his Charge. He'd had to smash his way through a Coarsefur Yeti to get to him, a battle he was not prepared for but won through pure brute force. Needless to say, their introduction – both of them covered in blood and panting from the effort of battle – was not the most ideal.

Though it was awkward at first, the two of them slowly came to know each other as they hiked through the Icewarden's lands, talking about philosophy, geography, the Deities, anything at all for hours and hours on end. After several weeks, Opium convinced Aphexx to return to Vassago's clan with him – and upon their arrival, they were met with the two new leaders of the ragtag travelers. Being a friend of Vassago, however, the two of them were still allowed to settle in.

There's MANPPAREL, there's BROLDEN MANPPAREL, and then there's SO MUCH BROLDEN MANPPAREL, THE MAN IS JUST ABOUT LOST UNDER A HUGE DISPLAY OF GLITTERING MANEY. In terms of the sheer number of items, Opium is something of a WALKING BRO-MINE. Every step he takes lifts OVER NINE THOUSAND grams of PURE MANEY - which is fine for him, because this TOUGH BRO is FAST REACHING THE OVER NINE THOUSAND THRESHOLD when it comes to his weight PURE MANDOM FACTOR.

Who needs a tertiary colour, I ask you? Certainly not a fine BROGON such as (BR)Opium! Every part of his MANIFICENT hide is covered in GLISTENING SWEAT; showing off both his MANCREDIBLE EFFORT when it comes to anything MAN-RELATED, and also bringing out the many inner colours of Opium's INNER RAINBRO. I never realized this, but apparently Iridescent applied to a Rust-primary Guardian is one of those colours where you wind up with just about every shade of brown on the dragon - from the earthier tones that really go with his golden MANPPAREL, to the redder shades that complement his KINGLY CRIMSON wings nicely MANLY. And of course - since he is literally a MAN OF MANY BROLOURS, Opium is always THE BEST BROICE for any BROCCAISION!

In conclusion, Opium is A LIVING, LIFTING EXAMPLE OF A MAN WHO DON'T NEED NO TERT.

- Manly McBro
