Long, long ago there was a witch that lived in the woods. She would go out, on the long beaten path and collect herbs and other trinkets for her potions, but one day a young dragon happened upon the long beaten path that lead back to the witch’s home. He traveled along the path, taking the path, unknown to what awaited him, his life to never be the same again.

And he continued along the path, bounding over mossy rocks and crunchy sticks. Until he reached the log-studded hovel. He peered up, through the thick vines that hung from the tree. And he crept quietly, closer to the doorway before crouching down, underneath a bush as the witch slid open her door and slunk out into the swampy forest before her.

He followed her, through the winding roots of the great trees that stalked above them and by the rocky cliff faces that ran along the wilderness. He watched and envied as she freely jumped from rock to rock, over the creek and gracefully took off and over a forest. She found and took what she wanted and drank with the gods. She had no rules, that was clear to his young mind, and that’s what he wanted in life. No rules, just the sweet smell of basil over the cooking pot. He wanted to be free in the way she was, he wanted to be she.
