"In the infinite expanse of the stars, we must find the strength to navigate our own paths, lest we be lost in their light."

Aster was born under a night sky brimming with stars, a rare celestial event that the House of Dreams interpreted as a sign of great significance. Her parents, both respected seers within the House, recognized from the moment she hatched that Aster was destined for a life unlike any other. Even as a hatchling her eyes held the cosmos, and despite being quite different from the belief of the golden eyes, some magical thinking started to work too: maybe she was touched by the same divine forces that blessed Evren with his golden eyes.

Oh, those eyes... if those weren't the capable eyes to see the future, to contain the stars, then which ones would be?

In any case, from an early age, Aster exhibited an extraordinary ability to see into the future. Unlike most seers who needed to enter deep trances or dreams, Aster’s visions often came to her in waking moments, triggered by seemingly mundane events; a flutter of leaves, the reflection of the moon on water, or a gust of wind. She could see paths that others could not even imagine, and her predictions were never confined to a single aspect of life. Aster could glimpse the future of a very particular soldier on the battlefield, the rise and fall of empires, or even the personal destinies of those around her.

However, her gift was both a blessing and a burden. The constant flow of visions was overwhelming, and as a young dragon, Aster struggled to make sense of the chaos in her mind. Sometimes Aster felt isolated and misunderstood, her eyes revealing futures that even the most experienced seers could not comprehend. Her parents contacted with Zenara, the next leader of the House of Dreams.

Zenara took her as apprentice under her wing. Zenara was a dragoness of incredible power, able to enter deep, prolonged trances where she could explore countless alternative futures. While Aster could trigger visions in her waking moments, Zenara’s method required her to sleep —sometimes for days or even weeks— during which she would journey through the many possible threads of fate.

Zenara was seen as the pinnacle of what a seer could become, her visions both vast and intricate. Aster admired her deeply, not just for her power, but for her wisdom and composure. Under Zenara’s guidance, Aster honed her skills, learning to navigate the overwhelming flow of visions that her cosmic eyes revealed. Despite her own potential, Aster often felt that she could never reach the heights that Zenara had achieved.

As she matured, Aster’s power grew, as well as her reputation in the Empire, not only in the House of Dreams. Speaking of the House of Dreams, it had to choose a successor. Many believed Zenara would lead and she would do it for decades, given her unmatched abilities. However, in a tragic and mysterious turn of events, Zenara disappeared during one of her deep trances. A search was conducted, and eventually, evidence —a final letter— surfaced suggesting that Zenara had taken her own life by failing to awake again.

The news of Zenara’s death shook the House of Dreams to its core. Aster, who had looked up to Zenara as a mentor and role model, was devastated. The weight of Zenara’s loss was compounded by the sudden and overwhelming responsibility that fell upon her. The council, recognizing Aster’s unique abilities and potential, named her the new leader of the House of Dreams. But the shadow of Zenara’s tragic end loomed over Aster, filling her with doubt and fear.

Aster struggled with the knowledge that the very power she revered had also led to Zenara’s demise. She worried that she too might be consumed by the burdens of leadership and the relentless flow of visions. Her once unshakable confidence was now tinged with anxiety, and she often found herself questioning whether she could truly live up to the legacy left by Zenara.

As Aster assumed her new role, she found an unexpected ally in Evren. Their rivalry had softened into friendship, and Evren, with his own experience of navigating the pressures of his gift, became a source of support. Aster confided in him her fears of being overwhelmed, of losing herself as Zenara had. Evren, in turn, shared his struggles with the singular focus of his visions and the heavy responsibilities that came with them.

Through their conversations, Aster found some solace, yet the pressure of leadership continued to weigh heavily on her. She was now responsible for guiding not just her own visions, but those of the entire House of Dreams. The constant flow of futures, the demands of her role, and the memory of Zenara’s tragic fate were a constant presence in her mind.

Amidst her own struggles, Aster often thought of Zavis, the heir to the Empire. Zavis bore the weight of an entire realm’s expectations, a burden far greater than any Aster could imagine. She marveled at how Zavis managed to handle such immense responsibility without collapsing, and she found herself wondering if she could learn something from the young heir’s strength and resolve.

Aster began to seek out opportunities to observe and understand Zavis, hoping to understand the source of his resilience. She found inspiration in the heir’s ability to maintain composure and grace under pressure, and it motivated her to continue leading the House of Dreams, despite her own fears and doubts. Something that started with a "selfish" motivation or with the excuse to strengthen the relationship between House of War and House of Dreams (and even royalty with House of Dreams) lead to a genuine friendship with Zavis, with who releases their worries and relax themselves with long conversations.

Aster even reunited the enough courage to ask Zavis about Seth. She was still learning under Zenara's wing when Seth was exiled by the Empire. Zavis had a very bitter reaction, but then he... broke. Aster understood that they suffered the same loss experience; someone very dared and respected, with the huge difference that Seth is still alive, while Zenara committed su*****.

Aster wondered what was the hardest to handle. And sadly she found that Zavis also cared about Zenara's life, as he appreciates every single life dedicated to the Empire. Such golden heart, thought, and how difficult to deal with it as consequence.

When Zavis is not available she does the same with Sienna, the healer and inventor of House of War, but their meetings do not have that... subdued tone by comparison. They even enjoy some time together eating delicious pastries and debating through the scientist lens and the magical one.

On the other hand, on the quiet moments when the visions subsided, Aster would reflect on Zenara’s teachings and the legacy she had inherited. She understood that the burden of her gift was also its greatest strength; that it was her duty to protect and guide the House of Dreams, just as Zenara had once done even when she was not a leader.

With this renewed sense of purpose, Aster continued to lead the House of Dreams, striving to honor Zenara’s memory while carving out her own path. She remained vigilant against the dangers of her power, determined not to succumb to the same fate as her mentor. Aster’s eyes, filled with the light of the stars, now carried not just the weight of the cosmos, but also the hope that she could navigate the future without losing herself to it.
